NYC SWIM - Mark Warkentin

Mark Warkentin

Hometown: California
Gender: Male

About Mark

Given Mark Warkentin’s motto “the longer the race, the better,” it is no surprise he is one of the USA’s long distance elite. His career achievements include two US 25K wins, a championship in the US Open Water Grand Prix, and 10K Championship gold. Time Magazine selected him as one of the “100 Olympic Athletes To Watch” in Beijing, where he finished 8th in the inaugural 10K event. A Santa Barbara resident, Mark prepared for the Beijing at altitude in the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center. He was a four-time All-American at USC, where he graduated with a degree in communications, and is currently the UC Santa Barbara meet announcer.
