Christie Plank Ciraulo, California, swam as an age grouper, but there was no college swimming for her as her college days were “pre-title nine.” However, at the age of 42, she got re-acquainted with the pool and has been racking up the titles ever since. For many years she has lived in West Los Angeles, with her husband, David, and teen daughter, Diana. With three grown children, seven grandchildren, one dog (whippet!)and the occasional fish, the Ciraulo household is a busy one. As for swimming, Christie has earned 144 spots on the USMS Top Ten lists since 1995. From 2000 - 2008, she made the World Top Ten, and in 2004 and 2008 received All-World recognition in the distance freestyle events. From 2004 - 2008 Christie also made USMS All-American. She was a USMS National Champion in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009, and in 2006 and 2007 a USMS Long Distance National Champion, earning All-American status as well. In summer 2008, Christie went five for five, winning all of her events in the 55-59 age group at the US Masters Nationals in Oregon. Christie is a seasoned veteran of open water swimming.
